"The ultimate guarantee of our good behaviour lies in the written word"

– Justice D. Y. Chandrachud.

Our 360° Legal Audit is a comprehensive review of an organisation’s legal framework. It examines documents, processes, and decision-making systems to understand how effectively legal risk is identified, distributed, and managed across operations.

why legal audit matters?

As organisations grow, legal structures tend to evolve unevenly. Policies may lag behind operations, contracts may accumulate without review, and responsibilities may become diffused across teams.

A legal audit helps restore visibility. It is not intended to assign fault or merely flag non-conformities. Its purpose is to provide foresight, by identifying gaps, overlaps, inconsistencies, and latent risks before they develop into disputes, liabilities, or operational disruption. The audit examines whether legal frameworks remain coherent, defensible, and aligned with how the organisation actually functions.

Best suited for organisations of any size seeking an objective view of their legal posture and potential risk exposure.

perspective

We, at Vidyam Legal, do not look at legal audit as a compliance exercise. It is an exercise in legal awareness.

By examining how law operates within an organisation, not just where it is documented, the audit offers a clearer picture of legal posture, resilience, and preparedness.

The Dual-Score Evaluation Framework

Each audit element is assessed using a two-layer framework:

  • Document Availability Score (DAS)
Evaluates whether required documents, records, or policies exist.

  • Document Legal Validity Score (DLVS)
Assesses whether those documents are legally sound, current, and defensible if tested.

This distinction allows organisations to understand not only what exists, but what actually holds legal weight.

Audit Duration & Deliverables

A comprehensive legal audit by Vidyam typically spans three to four weeks, depending on organisational size, complexity, and document availability.

The audit results in:

  • A structured audit report outlining observations and legal implications

  • A risk-segmented overview identifying critical, moderate, and low-exposure areas

  • A prioritised roadmap indicating where legal attention is most urgently required
